Welcome to the webpage of Hybrid Optielectronic Devices Lab, IIT Bombay. We are a group of researchers and students working in the field of Organic Polymer and Perovskite solar cells, LEDs and Piezoelectric Devices.
We are currently involved in conducting studies on novel low cost solution processible emerging photonic materials with exotic electronic and photo-physical properties. We deal mainly with two class of semiconductors materials system (i) crystalline hybrid halide perovskite and (ii) disordered hydrocarbon based organic semiconductors.
Perovskite semiconductors come with lots of surprises in semiconductor community in terms of positive temperature coefficient of bandgap, defect tolerance, dynamic disorder, ferroelectricity and these all interesting studies came out due to its unpreceded non-linear exponential growth in solar cells and LED efficiency in optoelectronics domain
organic semiconductors are under investigation for more than two decades and they still surprise us with novel photo-physics and charge transport properties. The old picture considered each molecule to be a defec site which is now is being changed due to improvements in molecular engineering and processing conditions to see highly improved exciton conduction in these disordered solids with pockets of ordered domains.
We specialise in the fabrication and characterisation of Organic and Perovskite Solar Cells, LEDs, Organic Transistors and Piezoelectric Devices.
